Art made to be played
From Hackney to Venice
What started off as a lockdown project has become the worlds first luxury, wooden pinball machine. Hand selected by the Michael Angelo foundation for creativity and craftsmanship, this machine is making its debut at the Homo Faber Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2024.
Exceptional craftsmanship
This pinball machine was designed and built by German born, kinetic sculptor and founder of WPM, Alexander Berchert. With his background in sculpture and cabinet-making, Berchert has produced a piece that truly showcases his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The table is constructed from an array of hardwoods, including oak, walnut, poplar, teak and African wenge. It is finished in hard wax oil, showing off a multitude of warm tones.
The machine is entirely mechanical and features 7 audible targets, including xylophone plates, a bike bell, porters bell, meditation chimes and a cymbal.
Precision engineering
All components of the machine have been engineered and tested to flow effortlessly and withstand the hardest of gameplay. It even features a cleverly designed ball save mechanism with a mechanical timer!
Alexander has mastered the balance between creative design and precise engineering to create one of a kind pieces of art.
